Searching Together Missionary Baptist Church
1982 – Present

The Searching Together Missionary Baptist Church was founded by Pastor Willie Riley on August 16, 1982. Service was held at Pastor Riley’s home at 1619 Edgewood Avenue for three years. The church at this time had five charter members. Sister Alice Riley, Sister Jeannette Bumpers, Mother Josephine Wilson, Sister Jo Curtis and Brother Fred Carroll (deceased).

On Sunday, May 25, 1986 we moved from Pastor Riley’s home to 625 17th Street. With God’s blessing the church moved forward and gained strength as a family. During the year of 1998 we acquired the property at 2130 Racine Street.

On December 13, 1998, we had our first service at 2130 Racine Street. We continued to hold services there for a year and a half, during which time we acquired the property at 825 21st Street.

On Sunday, September 17, 2000, we had our first service in our new church home at 825 21st Street. In the past 20 years, under the leadership of Pastor Willie Riley Jr. The church has moved from meager beginnings to our wonderful new church home. With Pastor Riley’s leadership, the membership has increased tremendously and we have all been blessed to be a part of it. Many individuals have come to unite with our church under his teaching and preaching, we thank the Lord for the progress of this ministry and its members over the past 37 years.
